Your voice counts – Have your say in shaping the future of our Association

September 17, 2015

In the years ahead, we expect our profession to face both changes and challenges that will require our Association to act quickly and effectively. To ensure we’re ready, we are making a change in how the Association is governed – and we want your input.

We have heard the many voices that say it’s time for a change, and we agree. We know we need a governing structure that will allow effective decision-making and good representation for all our members. But what will this model look like? Well, that’s why we’d like to hear from you. Our governance structure defines how effectively your Association delivers value to you and how your voice as a member is heard. It’s to your benefit that your views are reflected in any changes moving forward.

We have released our consultation paper Every Voice Counts: Shaping the Future of our Association Together that outlines two possible options as alternatives to our current single large Board, along with accompanying consultation questions. The two options are:

  • A single, smaller Board
  • A dual structure comprised of both a smaller Board and a Representative body

Within each of these options are various models that divide the roles and responsibilities of its members, and propose changes to Board composition and election structure.

The consultation period closes midnight September 30, 2015. Through the fall we will summarize the feedback to create a new document that you will again have the opportunity to provide feedback on. The final step will be a referendum in spring 2016.

This is your Association – you should be involved in shaping its future.

Dr Charles Webb
President, 2015-2016
