Representative Assembly advises on priorities for Doctors of BC

June 19, 2023

Members of the Representative Assembly are elected by physicians in districts around the province or appointed by their section or society. The RA also includes physicians serving rural and First Nations communities, as well as medical students and residents. Among its roles, the RA provides advice to the board that reflects a wide range of views and experiences.

At their June 2023 meeting, RA members identified future priorities for the association. Following robust group discussions, the following key themes emerged:

  • Improve access and availability of business and service supports.
  • Stronger public advocacy based on what members feel is important, and
  • Development of clear pathways for members to engage with Doctors of BC.

The board will consider the RA input, in addition to feedback received from sections, societies, divisions of family practice, medical staff associations, and other groups, at a strategic planning session in late June. A new five-year strategic plan for Doctors of BC is anticipated by the end of the year.

A summary of the full RA meeting held June 2023 can be found in the Speaker’s Report (log-in required).
