Prostate cancer support for patients and families

July 24, 2015

When a doctor tells a patient he has prostate cancer, the first reaction may be shock and disbelief. However, once the news settles, patients and their families find they have a journey full of decisions ahead of them.

Since one in seven men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, a group of specialist physicians have joined together – in partnership with the provincial government and Vancouver Coastal Health – to help make the journey an easier one.

The Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program (PCSC) provides a wide range of supports for patients and their families in the Lower Mainland including helping to choose treatment options, make lifestyle choices, and learn about sexual health post-surgery.

This short two-minute video features Joe’s story and how the PCSC program helped him and his partner Dianne cope.  Newly diagnosed patients are encouraged to call the PCSC office at 604-875-4111 ext. 62338 or email for more information.

The Prostate Cancer Supportive Care program started with funding from the Specialist Services Committee, a partnership of the Doctors of BC and the BC government.
