More than 1,000 kids took part in Be Active Every Day

December 14, 2020

This fall, BC’s doctors visited elementary schools in their community to teach kids about active, healthy lifestyles, and to challenge them to get at least 60 minutes of activity every day. The goal behind Doctors of BC’s annual Be Active Every Day public health campaign, is to turn healthy choices into healthy habits for future good health. The COVID-19 pandemic didn’t stop more than 1,000 kids from taking part, and doctors walked the talk as they talked kids through the challenge from safe physical distances across the province.

The theme of this year’s campaign, Play it Forward, honours the kids who took up the challenge. Doctors of BC partnered with Tree Canada to plant 2,500 trees in a managed forest in BC. This new forest - the equivalent of 7 NHL hockey rinks – will offset carbon, produce fresh clean air, and provide green space for future generations.

BAED%20Board%20GameKids received activity guides to track their success along with a new Be Active Board Game that reinforces our be active and healthy messages, to take home and keep the fun within their family bubbles. Five lucky winners received a Deluxe Be Active Board game as the grand prize, with 3D-printed characters; a laser etched, solid maple activity die; a fold out board; and a custom box!

Be Active Every Day is one of several public health campaigns supported by Doctors of BC through the Council on Health Promotion. For more information about how Doctors of BC promotes good health, click here…
