Dr Elizabeth Swiggum joins board of directors

Dr Elizabeth Swiggum is the newest member of the Doctors of BC Board of Directors. Dr Swiggum is a cardiologist, heart failure specialist and the medical director of the Heart Function Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation program at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. She has been a member of the Representative Assembly since its inception in September 2017 and contributed to the Heart Failure Guidelines created through the Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee (GPAC). She has also participated in a ShareDr%20Swiggum%20d Care Community of Practice.

"I'm excited to contribute to Doctors of BC. I believe that physicians should determine the future of medicine and define quality practice. Our patients deserve medical care that values prevention, is resourced to meet standard of care and strives for excellence and innovation. As the newest member of the board, I will use my experience on the representative assembly to meet the diverse needs of our profession as we deliver that care to our patients,” she said.

Dr Swiggum was elected to the position by the Representative Assembly in a by-election that followed the resignation of a board member. The term lasts until December 31, 2022.
