Movement Matters – Step up with Walk with your Doc for better health and wellness.

May 5, 2023

The public campaign that gets your family, your neighbours, your community moving starts this Saturday, May 6, and runs until Sunday, May 14. Hundreds of BC’s doctors will be hosting a free Walk with your Doc (WWYD) event – a short walk led by doctors to promote active, healthy lifestyle choices – in their local communities throughout the province. Physiotherapists from the Physiotherapy Association of BC (PABC) are supporting a number of events by leading a light warm-up and stretch to ensure you’re ready to move. Events are open to anyone regardless of age or ability - doctors in your community want you to move with them for your health.

Walk with your Doc in Burnaby

This year’s kick-off event in Burnaby at Confederation Park features a healthy lifestyle talk with Dr Davidicus Wong, followed by a comfortable walk around the track. The City of Burnaby’s mayor and council members, the Burnaby Division of Family Practice, PABC members, and Doctors of BC President Dr Joshua Greggain are attending the kickoff event alongside an estimated twenty local doctors and their patients and community members. Dr Greggain will keep on moving as host of the President’s Walk with your Doc in Hope, BC that coincides with World Move for Health Day on Wednesday, May 10.

We’d love to see how you get moving this week! Tag us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook and use #WWYD2023 so we can celebrate your accomplishments!
