Last-chance to register for retroactive Business Cost Premium payments
Community-based family doctors and specialists who are eligible for the Business Cost Premium (BCP) must register by July 31, 2021 in order resubmit billing claims to receive retroactive payments back to April 1, 2020.
Since April 1, 2020, eligible doctors have been able to receive a percentage premium on MSP fees for in-person consultation, visit, counselling, and complete examination services to help cover the rising rent, lease, or ownership costs of a community-based office.

Health Insurance BC (HIBC) manages the registration process and administers the BCP on behalf of the Medical Services Plan (MSP). If you haven’t registered for the BCP with HIBC, please note the following important registration dates:
- Doctors who register by July 31, 2021 are eligible to resubmit billing claims to receive retroactive BCP payment back to April 1, 2020.
- Doctors who register on August 1, 2021 or after are eligible to resubmit billing claims to receive retroactive BCP payment back to April 1, 2021.
