Voting for the recent bylaw referendum, which sought to simplify voting timelines and extend term limits for acclaimed Representative Assembly (RA) members, concluded at midnight yesterday.
Membership voted in favour of both proposed amendments. A total of 1,393 votes were cast, with 1,303 (94%) in favour of Special Resolution #1 on voting timelines, and 1,375 votes were cast, with 1,171 (85%) in favour of Special Resolution #2 extending term limits for acclaimed RA members, thereby achieving the required 2/3 majority in both cases.
These bylaw amendments will be incorporated into Doctors of BC’s upcoming 2026 Elections, resulting in a shorter voting timeline and an extended term limit for acclaimed returning RA members.
