Mini Practice Profiles (MPPs) are now available in the member area of the Doctors of BC website. This audit and billing tool lets you review your billing patterns and spot potential flags that warrant your attention.
Updated key features of your MPPs include:
- A ranking system which provides a quick overview of your data’s rank relative to your comparison group.
- A Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model comparison group.
- A new section: 2.2: Overall LFP Practice Parameters for physicians who bill under the LFP payment model.
What is a Mini Practice Profile?
Mini Practice Profiles provide statistical analyses of billings for the 2024 calendar year. They are generated only for physicians who bill a minimum of $1,000 under the MSC Payment schedules, fee-for-service (FFS), and/or the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) payment model, paid by the Medical Services Plan (MSP), including any settlements or retroactive payments issued as of March 31, 2025.
If you did not meet the $1,000 minimum from the MSC payment schedules in 2024 or were solely on APP or a contract, you won’t receive an MPP.
Your MPP is an educational tool that helps you determine whether you may consider changing your billing patterns of practice. The data in the MPP comes from the larger Physician Annual Profile database used by the Ministry of Health to track billing patterns; it is used and referenced during MSP billing audits.
The Patterns of Practice Committee and Doctors of BC jointly produce MPPs to help you review and understand your billing patterns in relation to your comparison group.
Why view your Mini Practice Profile?
The MPP provides billing data, including a statistical analysis of how your billing patterns compare with those of your comparison group. Understanding the flags on the MPP can help determine whether changes to a billing process are needed. Making needed changes to your billing patterns after MPP review may reduce your risk of a future billing audit.
You may be eligible to self-report CME credits for viewing your MPP annually. Additionally, you can receive CME credits by attending one of the accredited webinars held by Doctors of BC.
