Today on National Physician’s Day, I want to say thank you my team of physicians including my family physician, Dr Claire Rawson, as well as my oncologists, Drs Alina Gerrie and Johnathan Isenberg.

Having been dealing with a low-grade B-cell lymphoma / leukaemia over the past two years, my family physician has been an incredible in providing guidance, system navigation and emotional supports. Concurrently, my team at BC Cancer has been expertly helping me through this journey. As a physician myself, I am incredibly grateful for each of them, and want to honour their commitment and care.

Thank you for showing up day after day with skill, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to your patients and communities. Your work often unfolds in moments most people never see: quiet conversations, difficult decisions, and the steady reassurance you offer when it matters most.

Please know that your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. You are appreciated beyond measure not only for your expertise but also for your humanity—the kindness, empathy, and resilience you bring to every interaction.

I would like to express my gratitude to the surgical team at Richmond Hospital. I went in for pretty routine surgery, but despite this, the pre-op care I received was so incredibly thorough and well-explained.

On the day of the surgery, I met many doctors who put me at ease with their competence and humour. I also overheard other doctors treating their surgery patients with personal care and attention. Thank you, Team Richmond!

No matter the circumstances, physicians have been there for me in moments of joy, challenge, and grief. I would like to thank physicians for being there during some of my happiest days, such as when my kids were born, and during my saddest times, when I lost close family members.

Throughout my life, physicians have consistently exemplified resilience, compassion, and grace, teaching me to navigate the unknown and be the calm in the storm. It’s been my honour to learn and gain these valuable lessons from our members.
