Doctors of BC is incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported Walk with your Doc (WWYD) over the past 15 years.
As opportunities, resources, and circumstances evolve, we worked with the Council on Health Promotion to pivot our public health approach to reach a wider audience and explore a more diverse range of important health topics.
Starting in 2026, Walk with your Doc will look a little different, with more emphasis on physician-led events in communities that choose to host them.
Doctors of BC will still provide a list of resources to assist with these events, and we will continue to promote and encourage participation in WWYD through our new health promotion initiative launching soon. This means our resources for Walk with your Doc events will be limited to the following (availabe for download in March):
- Fillable poster templates
- Fillable Rx pads
- Appointment cards
- Social media graphics
All hosts will promote their event to the community directly through their own channels.
Groups keen to keep Walk with your Doc going in their communities are encouraged to take the lead and plan a walk any time in May. Hosts can sumbit event details online and we will display walks on the Walk with your Doc webpage.
You will also see Doctors of BC on social media encouraging general participation.
Thank you for your support as we broaden our health promotion scope to reach a wider audience and cover a diverse range of healthy living advice.
