BC Election 2026—We asked each major political party to share its priorities and plans for improving health care in British Columbia. Here’s what they told us.
Health care is the most important issue facing British Columbians, according to recent public polling commissioned by Doctors of BC, BC Family Doctors, and Consultant Specialists of BC. With physicians and patients continuing to face significant challenges, we wanted to ensure that health care—and the issues that matter to both—remain part of the election conversation.
We invited each major political party to provide a 90-second video response to one question, informed by our four election priorities.
The question we asked
If elected, what are your top priorities for improving health care in British Columbia? Specifically, what actions would you take to improve access to care—such as reducing waitlists, keeping emergency departments open, attracting and retaining family physicians, and strengthening rural care—and to support the physicians who provide it?
Watch the parties’ responses
We received video responses from the parties listed below in alphabetical order. We did not receive a response from the BC Conservatives, the Green Party, or OneBC.

We hope these videos provide valuable insight into the parties’ health care plans as British Columbians consider their choices ahead of voting day. We’ve also compiled a brief summary of the parties’ health care platforms, organized around our four election priorities.
While important progress has been made in recent years, significant challenges remain. Continued investment, collaboration, and meaningful action by the next government will be essential to strengthening our health care system and improving access to care for patients across the province.
