At the request of local physicians, Doctors of BC is gathering signatures in support of health care professionals who rely on the Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) program.
RTVS is a province-wide virtual health initiative that connects health care practitioners in rural, remote, and First Nations communities with on-call physician support. The program provides immediate access to clinical expertise across multiple pathways, including emergency care, maternity and newborn support, pediatrics, critical care, and overnight emergency assistance.
A commitment to sustainable, equitable, and reliable funding is required to address recent service disruptions and ensure specialist support is available to health care professionals when and where they need it.
The support provided through RTVS helps attract and retain health care professionals in remote communities and bolsters local health systems where staffing shortages are most acute.
