On May 1, we celebrate National Physicians’ Day and honour the tireless dedication of doctors across the country and their vital contributions to health care. Through often challenging times, they show up for their communities every day, caring for individuals, supporting patients, and strengthening the health care system as a whole.
From urban centres and small towns to remote rural communities, they are making a difference. Today and every day, we recognize and appreciate the many roles doctors play as healers, educators, leaders, innovators, and advocates for change.
At Doctors of BC, we're committed to supporting BC doctors to drive positive change and advocating for the systemic change our health care system needs. We're here to increase the influence of the physician voice, provide support when and where members need it, and collaborate to build a healthier culture of medicine and a more resilient future for the profession.
“On National Physicians’ Day, I want to recognize BC doctors for the care, compassion, and expertise they bring every day. You are the foundation of our health care system, and your dedication makes a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities across our province. Thank you for all you do, the challenges you navigate, and the difference you make. Doctors of BC sees you, values you, and is here to support you.” —Dr Adam Thompson, President, Doctors of BC
Show your appreciation and “Thank a Doc”
To remind doctors how much we value and appreciate them, we encourage British Columbians to share a message of support, a story about how a doctor has helped you during difficult times, or a simple thank you on our Thank a Doc webpage.
