Doctors of BC’s biennial Health Authority Engagement Survey is now open until October 30, 2025, providing members with an important opportunity to share candid feedback about their experience with their regional health authority—what’s working, what challenges remain, and what changes you want to see.

As BC physicians continue to face a system in crisis, your feedback will help guide Doctors of BC’s advocacy efforts to shape a more resilient health care system for physicians and patients alike, through programs and policies that support doctors.

How to take part

Members received an email invitation from surveys@doctorsofbc.ca on Wednesday, October 1, with the subject line: “Doctors of BC Health Authority Engagement Survey 2025.” This email contains a link to the survey, which is being conducted by TWI Surveys and should take no more than ten minutes to complete. The results will be aggregated in a way that maintains member confidentiality and anonymity.

The deadline to complete the survey is midnight on October 30, 2025. Participants can also enter an optional draw to win one of two $1,000 gift cards to either Costco or Canadian Tire.

Learn more about how the survey works for you by watching our animated video guide, which illustrates just how important your individual feedback is for your fellow colleagues, British Columbians who need your care, and the health care system overall.

Your voice matters

Your responses help Doctors of BC build and focus our programs and policies to effectively support work taking place within health authorities and advocate for what you need. The Engagement Response Plans created following 2023’s Health Authority Engagement Survey exemplify how your input leads to significant improvements through constructive and targeted actions.

Working collaboratively, Doctors of BC and the health authorities have implemented initiatives including facilitating more constructive conversations with health authority leadership, developing new physician leadership programs, and expanding physical and psychological safety supports. Doctors of BC is continuing its commitment to leveraging your feedback, creating more equitable, safe, and respectful working environments.

What kind of questions are being asked?

Core questions about overall engagement and physician health and safety are being asked, along with new open-ended questions that provide the opportunity to share feedback on the ongoing health authority administrative reviews. Topics include:

  • Reducing administrative burdens
  • Enhancing the physician voice throughout the decision-making process
  • The best channels and methods for health authorities to engage with physicians on workplace matters
  • Where physicians would recommend reallocating funding from administrative processes to front-line care
  • Examples of decisions made by health authority leadership that affected physician engagement (positive and/or negative)
