Submission on Prohibiting Sick Notes for Short-term Work Absences

Doctors of BC has long advocated for restricting sick notes to allow physicians to better direct their time to patient care. As a key health care partner on this matter—one of many identified administrative burdens—we appreciated the opportunity to provide input to government on prohibiting sick notes for short-term work absences. Our submission builds on our April 2024 resolution, is informed by Doctors of BC’s policies and input from BC physicians, and is endorsed by BC Family Doctors.
