Doctors of BC recognizes the significant impact of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) on physicians and all health care providers, and patient access to care. The new legislation—replacing the Health Professions Act as of April 1, 2026—is a focus of our ongoing advocacy, which began with our submission to the 2018 Cayton Report. As part of our efforts, we shared feedback with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC on its revised draft bylaws, updated per regulatory requirements to reflect the provisions of the HPOA. Our collective response is informed by feedback from physicians, gathered through a comprehensive member engagement process, as well as our analysis of the bylaw changes and their potential implications.
