Hope - First Nations community-based experiential learning session
The Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs) in partnership with Len Pierre Consulting and Shxw'ōwhámel First Nation are looking forward to hosting a Community-Based Experiential Learning Session on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Shxw'ōwhámel Gymnasium: 58700A St. Elmo Road, Hope, BC.
These interactive sessions encourage ongoing learning and relationship-building between participants and Indigenous communities. Learn about cultural safety education, experience traditional food, songs, protocols, language, history, and stories and connect with local health staff and providers.
Sessions discuss colonial genocide, systematic separation from Indigenous identity, land, and culture, and the resulting mental and physical health disparities. These themes may surface personal stories and participants are encouraged to prepare to hear this difficult journey.
Registration is limited to 50 participants, so please register early for the session closest to your community. For further questions, please contact .
