The Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs) and the physician-led Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Advisory (IDEA) Committee are pleased to launch a province-wide Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) survey to gather members’ insights into how systemic barriers show up throughout physicians’ careers. Your participation is essential to developing an inclusive culture of medicine for all.

Equity is a key principle in Doctors of BC’s strategic plan, and this survey is a critical tool for informing the direction and development of our EDI work plans. What is shared with us will deepen the quality of our approach to policy and advocacy priorities, program and support design, governance and representation, resource allocation, accountability and measurement.

We need your voice

This survey is a key component of the IDEA Committee’s work. Member responses will build on engagement sessions and interviews conducted in the winter of 2025, during which participants shared their experiences and challenges as Indigenous physicians, 2SLGBTQIA+ physicians, physicians with disabilities, and more. Participants also candidly shared their thoughts on experiences of bullying and exclusion, feeling unsafe at work, feeling underrepresented in leadership or decision-making roles, and more.

This survey builds on those sessions and will support our efforts to effectively address historical and ongoing systemic inequities that persist across our province.

How to participate

On June 16, members will receive an email invitation with the subject line: “Complete the 2026 EDI Survey.” This email contains a link to the survey, which should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Your responses will be collected by firm Canadian Equality Consulting (CEC), which is conducting the survey on our behalf, and only aggregated data will be shared to protect member confidentiality.

The deadline to complete the survey is midnight on July 7, 2026. If you cannot find the email invitation (in your inbox or junk/spam folder), please email surveys@doctorsofbc.ca
