Mini Practice Profiles (MPPs) are now available via a new interactive platform in the member area of the Doctors of BC’s website. A new interactive format lets you review your billing patterns more efficiently and spot potential red flags.
What's new
In 2023, the Patterns of Practice Committee (POPC) established a working group to support and enrich doctors' use of their Mini Practice Profiles. In addition to the interactive format, this year’s MPPs include:
- A new comparison group for the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model.
- A numerical ranking system to show you, at a glance, where your data sits in relation to your comparison group.
What is a Mini Practice Profile?
Mini Practice Profiles provide a statistical analysis of billings from the 2023 calendar year. They are generated for physicians who bill a minimum of $1,000 from the MSC Payment schedules, fee-for-service (FFS), and/or Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) payment model paid by the Medical Services Plan (MSP), including any settlements or retroactive payments issued as of March 31, 2024.
The Patterns of Practice Committee and Doctors of BC make MPPs available to help you review your billing patterns and determine where your data sits in relation to your comparison group. The data in the MPP is taken from the larger Physician Annual Profile database used by the Ministry of Health to track billing patterns and is often referred to during MSP audits.
Why view your Mini Practice Profile?
The MPP provides billing data on how your billing patterns compare to your comparison group. Understanding the flags on the MPP can assist in determining whether changes should be made to your pattern of practice and billings. Knowing this may reduce your risk of a billing audit in the future.
You may be eligible to self-report CME credits for viewing your MPP annually. Additionally, you can receive CME credits by attending one of the accredited webinars held by Doctors of BC.
