The Insurance Committee sets policy for the provision of insurance benefits for Doctors of BC members and fulfills the following objectives:
- Set policy regarding all matters related to Doctors of BC member insurance programs.
- Review and accept or reject proposals made by Doctors of BC employees regarding the insurance programs.
- Provide advice and guidance to the HBTF Board of Trustees regarding benefits provided under the Health Benefits Trust Fund plans.
- Work in cooperation with the Benefits Advisory Committee (BAC), review matters related to the operation of the Physicians’ Disability Insurance plan; recommend plan changes to the BAC for presentation to the Joint Benefits Committee.
- Recommend changes in policy, programs, and new programs to the Board.
- Review requests by members to intervene with insurers and advocate on members’ behalf when the Committee deems the insurer’s actions inadequate or inappropriate.
