Local Government Involvement in Physician Recruitment and Retention

Doctors of BC believes local governments can support improved access to health care through efforts to attract and retain health care professionals in their communities.

It is imperative for local governments to engage and partner with physicians and key interest holders early in their planning to best understand local needs, gaps, existing efforts, and potential risks.

Physician groups, including Local Divisions of Family Practice and Medical Staff Associations, other health care professionals, and key interest holders like First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, and regional health authorities, have necessary perspectives to ensure solutions are sustainable and effective.
