February 4, 2021

Community physicians – family doctors and specialists - can order Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost during the pandemic through the BC government’s Health PPE Portal.

If you are having problems with your orders, or you believe you qualify but have not yet been notified about the portal via letter, please e-mail: . Ministry staff will assist you.

Other questions and answers about the Health PPE Portal.

Who is eligible?

  • Family doctors and specialists working in community clinics are eligible to order PPE and critical supplies through the Health PPE Portal.
  • If you are employed by a health authority or work at a health authority site, you will continue to receive your PPE and critical supplies through your existing ordering process and are not eligible to submit through the portal.

What products are available and how much can we order?

  • Community doctors can access a three month supply of medical grade masks, gowns, gloves, eye protection, and disinfecting products. This includes medical masks to support the policy on mask use in health-care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How does the process work?

  • Each doctor working in a clinic holds their own account and you, or your office staff, can place orders for up to three months of PPE and critical supplies for the practice.

When did the portal launch?

  • The portal was rolled out in November and December 2020. Doctors should have received a letter in the mail that included personal registration information. If you did not receive a letter, and feel you qualify, please e-mail

What role did Doctors of BC play in creation of this portal?

  • Doctors of BC works closely with the Ministry of Health to support our members and address your needs so that you can provide quality care to patients. We heard your concerns about PPE shortages and difficulty in accessing products, and shared them with the Ministry which responded by providing PPE at no cost through a centralized portal.
