Get involved: New working group to address the ongoing overdose crisis

Doctors of BC is looking for physicians interested in developing policy on issues related to decriminalization and pharmaceutical alternatives (safe supply) to street drugs. The new Project Working Group on Decriminalization, Safe Supply, and Addiction Care will work under the guidance of the Council on Health Promotion (COHP), and will be responsible for:

  • Identifying policy opportunities and determining the scope for a policy statement (Doctors of BC’s official perspective) on decriminalization and safe supply.
  • Reviewing research and evidence, discussing policy gaps and opportunities, and guiding the development of the policy statement.
  • Updating the existing Doctors of BC policy paper, Stepping Forward: Improving Addiction Care in BC, written in 2009.
