August 22, 2018

It’s that time of year again. BC’s medical students are heading back to school, looking ahead to a year of hard work and long hours – part of their journey to becoming physicians. For students, it is important to take advantage of all the of support available, including family, friends, peers and mentors.

Doctors of BC is also a support, providing medical students with a strong network. We encourage students to advantage of the benefits and programs we offer, particularly in the areas of financial support and health and wellness. It is part of our commitment to support BC’s doctors of tomorrow by making their journey throughout medical school easier.

By joining Doctors of BC, you are not just a member – you are part of a community of physicians.

We recognize that medical school can be a big financial challenge. That’s why we provide more than $200,000 in student bursaries each year through UBC. We also recognize the importance of pursuing your passions outside of the classroom and provide an annual $10,000 grant to the Medical Undergraduate Society to help you achieve this.

If you are having a difficult time – feeling stressed, overwhelmed, burnt out – members have free access to the Physician Health Program (PHP). By calling one number, you will have access to immediate and confidential help 24/7, 365 days a year.

We organize a number of events to support your journey to becoming a physician. Our annual Find Your Match networking event lets you interact and engage with physicians from various specialities and talk about the experiences, challenges, and opportunities they’ve faced.
