Members - Important ratification vote taking place

November 21, 2014

There is currently an important vote taking place seeking members’ approval for a new 5-year Physician Master Agreement – an agreement that provides significant new funding for physicians.

We have negotiated a strong tentative agreement with new funding that will benefit physicians, and patients. The bulk of new funding is being directed to the issues members told us were important and needed to be improved upon – issues such as:

  • Disparity correction for specialists, including funding for interprovincial disparities;
  • Priority areas within GPSC to benefit family physicians;
  • AP workload funding corrections; and
  • Growth in rural retention utilization.

Also, there is new funding to support facilities-based physicians – through their Medical Staff Associations (MSA) – to engage in a meaningful way their local Health Authorities.

The agreement was unanimously approved by the Board of Doctors of BC and was announced publicly in a press release made by the Ministry of Health and Doctors of BC on October 29, 2014.
