DocTalks – An interview with Dr Bonnie Henry

August 16, 2022

In May 2022, the Joint Collaborative Committees (JCC), a partnership of Doctors of BC and the BC government, held the annual JCC Pre-Forum event in Vancouver, hosted in partnership with the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.

The theme for this year’s event was “Regroup, reflect and evolve: Strengthening our community of caring.”

Physicians gathered to connect, learn and collaborate with each other, while recognizing the significant challenges of the last 2.5 years, and the current crisis in the health care system.

The day featured rapid-fire presentations on work funded by the JCCs, and presentations by three keynote speakers, Provincial Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry, brain-sciences expert Dr Brynn Winegard, and family physician Dr Melissa Lem.

Dr Henry kicked off the day with a heartfelt keynote address, and question and answer period, that prompted a standing ovation from attendees.

Prior to her keynote, Doctors of BC sat down with Dr Henry to hear her thoughts on the pandemic, her message for physicians, and how we can learn from challenges in the health care system to rebuild and move forward.
