Patients now have access to lab results via Health Gateway

BC patients now have access to lab results collected from inpatient and outpatient settings—including those done by any BC health authority and some private labs across the province (e.g., LifeLabs)—via the Ministry’s Health Gateway website.  

Health Gateway offers a central point of access for lab results, along with medication, health visits,  immunization history, and more already available on the site. Access to broader lab results on the site will increase patient visibility into their care and can support quality care by allowing them to easily share their health history with providers across health care settings and teams.

Clinicians have worked closely with the Health Gateway team to ensure that appropriate guidance is provided to patients when viewing their lab results in Health Gateway. As the Ministry is planning to make ongoing updates via Health Gateway, Doctors of BC is playing an active role in providing strategic guidance to the Ministry around when to seek input from doctors.
