Make a difference by joining a Doctors of BC Committee

July 7, 2020

Do you have an interest in developing policies to advance the profession and build a stronger health care system? Perhaps you feel you can contribute by advising the Board on diversity and inclusion, or your passion lies with Geriatrics? We encourage physicians who would like to make a difference in those areas and others to consider applying for an open position on one of the Doctors of BC committees.

Committee%20OpportunitiesSome members hesitate to apply because they assume they must have experience on committees or in leadership positions. That was the case for Dr Sari Cooper, a member of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC), who did not have a lot of leadership experience and thought she had little chance of being selected. She is embracing her role to help bring about change in primary care on a provincial scale, bringing a fresh perspective to the Committee:

“I’m the grassroots, I’m the person on the ground. Your regular day-to-day family doctor in the trenches.”
