Why it’s important to cast your vote in the current Doctors of BC elections

Doctors of BC is changing. After two years of engaging with members to get your input, we will have a dual-structure governance model this September which includes a new Representative Assembly (RA). The RA is designed to bring both balance and diversity to the running of our organization, and provide a forum to hear the input of doctors from across disciplines over the entire province.

The next step in this journey is underway with the start of elections for President-Elect and delegate positions to the RA.    

I encourage all members to take a few minutes to read the candidates’ campaign platforms, decide who you think would best serve in the role and cast your vote. It’s important to note that, for the first time, two delegates will be chosen from each region – one GP and one specialist. 

Members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the change of structure in a referendum – now is the time to see it through, cast your vote for the people who will represent you and ensure that your voice is heard.

Please look in your inbox for the email from Everyone Counts Canada (ECC) that you should have initially received on June 26, with a follow-up reminder on July 3, which invites you to cast your vote. Included is your link to the external ECC voting website and all necessary login information. To be eligible you must be in good standing with your 2017 membership dues paid in full by 11:59pm June 25th, 2017.
