Thoughts on your Health Authority? Have your say

March 22, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

Starting April 1, 2019, Doctors of BC will be conducting its fourth annual Health Authority Engagement Survey seeking your input on engagement and interactions within your Health Authority and local hospital.

Thanks to your continuing participation, this is the largest physician engagement survey in Canada. I strongly encourage everyone, including those who don’t work directly in a hospital, to take a few moments to complete the survey. Your feedback helps Doctors of BC create and focus programs and policies to better support your work with health authorities. The same is true for the Joint Collaborative Committees and their local organizations such as Medical Staff Associations and Divisions of Family Practice. Most importantly, your feedback provides us with the important insights on how we can better advocate for you, not only within your health authority facilities but also more broadly in your communities.

The deadline to submit your responses is midnight on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

You will receive an email invitation with a link to the survey from Health Standards Organization (HSO), the company conducting the survey on our behalf. It should no more than 5 minutes to complete and your responses will remain anonymous and confidential – neither Doctors of BC nor the Health Authorities will know your individual answers.

There may be a familiarity as the same questions are being asked as in previous years – this allows for comparison and trend-tracking. Additionally, this year four new questions will be asked. The first two are already asked at the Health Authority level but are again being asked to gage local engagement on opportunities for influence and quality improvement within your specific hospital. The other two questions will help measure how physicians feel about levels of psychological health and physical safety in local facilities.

Upon completing the survey you will have the option to enter a draw to win one of two iPad Pros or Surface Pros. You can provide your name and email address directly to HSO who will conduct the draw – again Doctors of BC will not have access to this information.

If you do not receive the survey or have any questions about it then please contact . When results are available they will be shared with all members and health authorities. To access last year’s Survey Report, please click here.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to complete the survey. Your opinion matters and hearing about your experiences allows us to advocate for improved working conditions for all.

Sincerely,
Dr Eric Cadesky
