Shared Care Committee launches new website

Collaborating to improve health outcomes and the patient experience

Since 2006, the Shared Care Committee (SCC)  has helped more than 2,500 family physicians, 240 specialist physicians, and many other partners, to work together on over 240 projects across BC. These projects fall under ten initiatives as part of this joint Doctors of BC/Ministry of Health committee. They are as wide-ranging in scope and geography as they are in focus.

Until now, it has been difficult to share the details of the Shared Committee work comprehensively with partners and stakeholders. So with sharing in mind, the Shared Care Committee has launched a new website where visitors can now see at a glance the Shared Care projects taking place across all regions of the Province.

Visit SCC's new site to learn how collaboration is improving the health of British Columbians in your region and how you can get involved.

The Shared Care Committee is a joint committee of Doctors of BC and the Ministry of Health that works to improve health outcomes and the patient journey through the health care system.

The committee was formed in 2006, as part of the Physician Master Agreement to address the growing need for coordination of patient care and best use of health care resources.

The committee works closely with the General Practice Services Committee(link is external) and the Specialist Services Committee(link is external), but is a distinct group with its own mandate and projects to address the care provided by both family physicians (FPs) and specialist physicians (SPs).
