Meet Dr John Pawlovich: New Rural Doctors’ Chair at UBC

The next UBC Chair in Rural health is a family doctor who has dedicated his career to improving the health of rural, remote and Indigenous communities. In his new role, Dr John Pawlovich will collaborate with academic institutions, government, rural healthcare providers and communities to enhance health education and training and explore healthcare innovations that will build capacity in rural, remote and Indigenous settings.

Funding for position is provided by the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC), a partnership of Doctors of BC and the BC Ministry of Health.

Dr%20John%20PawlovichIn an interview, Dr Pawlovich addresses topics such as the use of technology to address healthcare disparities, enhancing training of medical students and residents, and how he uses his role in advocating for equity and access to health care in rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
