Doctors of BC election results: New president-elect and board members

Voting in the election for the 2023 President-Elect and Representative Assembly (RA) Delegates has concluded, and Doctors of BC is now able to share the results with members, along with the composition of your 2023 Board of Directors (elected by the RA). All terms begin in January 2023.

President-Elect

Dr Ahmer Karimuddin was the successful candidate in this year’s election for President-Elect.

Board of Directors

For the specialist board director positions, the Representative Assembly re-elected Dr Elizabeth Swiggum to the two-year term and Dr Michelle Teo to the one-year term. Both Drs Dan Horvat and Karin Kausky were acclaimed as the two family physician board directors. 

Doctors of BC’s 2023 Board of Directors will be comprised of (in alphabetical order): 

  • Dr Joshua Greggain – President
  • Dr Ahmer Karimuddin – President-Elect (new member)
  • Dr Barbara Blumenauer
  • Dr  Dan Horvat (new member)
  • Dr  Karin Kausky (new member)
  • Dr  Lloyd Oppel
  • Dr Elizabeth Swiggum (re-elected member)
  • Dr Michelle Teo (re-elected member)
  • Dr Adam Thompson

Rural Delegates on the RA

Dr Flora Barnard was elected by eligible members as the Rural Family Physician Delegate and Dr Denise Jaworsky was acclaimed as the Rural Specialist Delegate.

Nominating and Governance Committees

Dr Greg Deans was acclaimed as the General Member-at-Large to the Nominating Committee and Drs Reena Khurana and Casey Chang were acclaimed as the General Members-at-Large to the Governance Committee, by the RA.
