Doctors of BC to consult members on proposed changes to health profession regulators

November 28, 2019

Doctors of BC will soon seek member input to inform a response to the proposed changes to health professions regulations recently announced by government.

The proposed changes include: ensuring regulatory colleges put public interest and public safety ahead of professional interests, and improving the effectiveness of regulatory college boards. A note that while the proposals recommend amalgamation of 20 professional colleges into five, our understanding is that the extent to which this impacts the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC would be minimal. Watch for a President’s Letter to be sent to members the first week of December inviting your input.

Government’s proposals are based on the recommendations of the Cayton Report, to which Doctors of BC responded earlier this year. Should members wish to provide input directly to government, click here
