Doctors of BC and CMA Joule course: Advocacy for Change

The next online session designed specifically for physicians to learn the key elements of effective advocacy, and to build valuable skills to enact meaningful change will be held November 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. PT.

To register in the Learning Portal, you will need a cma.ca account. Physicians who are not CMA members will be required to create an account by selecting the “physician” option from the drop-down menu. If you don’t know your CMA ID number you can contact member services at 1-888-855-2555 for assistance.

You will learn:

  • recognize how advocacy is a part of a physician’s day-to-day practice;
  • describe the key elements of effective advocacy – including the different forms that advocacy may take;
  • examine how to advocate in a hostile environment or where advocacy is not encouraged
  • collaborate with peers to use the advocacy framework;
  • create a strategic advocacy approach; and
  • prepare an advocacy action plan leveraging an advocacy framework to help lead meaningful change.
